MKFM Review: Volkswagen ID.3

"I LOVE THIS CAR!! I may drive off into the sunset with it and live happily ever after!" Find out what else Lia from the MK Breakfast Show had to say about the Volkswagen ID.3 in her full review here...

The ID.3 introduces Volkswagen's third era, after the original Beetle and the Golf, and in my opinion is all the car you will ever need.

With the turning circle and agility of the up!, the compact footprint of a Golf, with expansive interior space of the Passat and swift acceleration competitive with a Golf GTI - what more could you ask for?

This all-electric family hatchback gets the fundamentals right with competitive pricing, appealing looks and incredible levels of comfort - all tied up in an accessible package with real-world range of 260 miles. When driving this car you could tell every little detail had been thought of with care, precision and the end consumer in mind.

Despite me writing a few of these car reviews now, it may surprise you to know that I am NOT a car fanatic. However, the ID.3 made me one. I never thought a car would make me so passionate about driving and want to share my amazing experience with the rest of Milton Keynes and beyond - since my week long test drive one of my friends and a family member have placed an order for an ID.3!

    First impressions - exterior

So firstly, let's talk about how friendly the ID.3 is. They say first impressions never have a second chance and with the optional ‘Keyless Advanced’ locking and starting system the ID.3 recognises you when you approach the vehicle with the key. The stylish Matrix LED headlights (that follow around the corners as you drive by the way) light up briefly as if they were winking at you, making the ID.3 seem almost human. The ID.Light inside makes you feel welcome immediately. When you start, the vehicle makes a little sound to set the tone for your onward journey and when you leave your ID.3, the ID.Light says goodbye with a light signal and musical tone.

I have also never received so many compliments about a car I was driving before - from neighbours, family and friends. The exterior is sleek but robust, futuristic yet accessible, masculine and feminine.

    Interior

The exterior seamlessly continues to the interior of this car. Contemporary, comfortable, customisable and convenient. All thanks to the inviting heated seats and heated steering wheel, ample legroom, minimalist design and a large touch display, as well as the ID.Light and adaptable ambient lighting.

The interior feels so spacious and airy from wherever you are seated in the ID.3 yet the turning circle makes you feel like you're driving a much smaller car. It feels dominant on the road without feeling cumbersome to drive and it's safe to say I did not want to give the Volkswagen ID.3 back to the Electric Vehicle Experience Centre at the end of my test drive - as you can see by my quote at the top of this review text to EV Guru Rachel saying that I would drive off into the sunset and live happily ever after with it!

The Volkswagen ID.3 is an all-electric family hatchback that ticks all of the boxes in my opinion. Don't believe me? Why not try it for yourself...
