MKFM Review: Patley Indian

The MKFM team was invited down to Patley Indian, here is the full review...

The town centres in Milton Keynes are packed with hidden gems, it doesn’t matter if you go to Stony Stratford, Fenny, Wolverton to name a few, you will always find a great selection of independent restaurants.

Newport Pagnell is also one of the towns with a good selection of independents and has always been the home of good Indian restaurants.

New on the scene is Patley on the high street which has recently opened following a full refurbishment of the former Kakori restaurant.

Patley says they are proud to present the finest chef in the culinary world who uses only the very best ingredients to prepare your meal. In addition to the all-time favourite dishes, they also offer their own specialities creating unique meals for you to enjoy.

We were invited to go along and try it for ourselves.

As you would expect Patley has a great range of drinks in their fully stocked bar along with your traditional Indian draft lagers.

Within minutes our choice of Papadums and drinks were brought to our table with our waiter taking the time to explain their menu.

Patley offers a big choice of starters including your usual Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Chicken and specialities including Tandoor grilled Salmon marinated in Honey & Dill and Seasoned Duck, Barbecued in a Tandoori oven.

We decided to go for the lightly spiced lamb chops and the king prawns cooked in a Tamarind Sauce.

You can tell quite a bit from a restaurant’s starter, first impressions count. From the first bite, you could taste that Patley knows how to season their dishes with both starters tasting freshly cooked with a perfectly prepared side salad.

Next, we dived into our main courses consisting of Lamb Nehari which is a roast fillet of Lamb cooked in a medium spicy sauce with Spring Onion, Paprika and a touch of Garlic from the specialities menu. Our other main was a chicken karahi and as you can see from the photos, we ordered your usual sides of rice and Naan bread.

The lamb was first class, again perfectly flavoured but the best thing of all was it was so tender. The meat just fell apart with a spoon, no cutting or chewing was required, it was just a melt-in-your-mouth piece of meat. The Chicken was just as good with our fluffy flavoursome rice and Naan.

At the end of the meal, we were presented with fresh orange segments to refresh the pallet and mints and chocolates.

Patley offers an incredible range of dishes for everyone with all your classic and house specialities. In addition to lamb and chicken, there are plenty of Duck, prawn and vegetarian dishes to choose from, view here.

Patley is perfect for a curry night with a mate, a romantic meal for two or celebrating a special occasion in their private dining area that’s separate to the main restaurant.

If you love Indian food, then Patley should defiantly be on your list.
