Milton Keynes MP joins expert panel for live online supply chain cyber security debate

Ben Everitt, MP for Milton Keynes North, will join a cross-industry expert panel to discuss the importance of businesses establishing appropriate cyber security protections on Friday.

Ben will speak alongside Stephen Phipson, CEO of Make UK, the Manufacturers’ Organisation and Andrew Clarke, the Chief Operating Officer of Assured Cyber Protection, a cyber security firm offering bespoke cyber immunity services to businesses worldwide.

Clarke said, “The supply chain poses a significant risk to business; whether small, medium or large matters not; cyberattacks are often indiscriminate and the victims are rarely the intended targets - they are collateral damage. It is a board responsibility to ensure that the right levels of cyber protections are in place.

“With 52% of compliance officers saying third party cyber risk and data breach is the most-increased risk since the onset of COVID-19 (Gartner) we’re delighted that Ben joins our panel to add a blend of local business and government experience.”

Ben said: “Milton Keynes has a wonderful mix of businesses from start-ups to national businesses so I’m really pleased to be joining the panel to help support businesses protect themselves from potential cyber attacks.

“I’d encourage as many MK businesses as possible to sign up and get involved.”

The event brings together valuable political insight, that combined with the knowledge and expertise of ACP and Make UK, will address the concerns of businesses and provide them with information to tackle the often-crippling threat of cyberattack.

The free to attend event will take place on Friday, 25th September, at 12:00. Register here https://www.makeuk.org/news-and-events/events/allevents/protecting-the-manufacturing-supply-chain-from-cyber-attack
