Milton Keynes Dons have dipped into the free agent market to sign full back Brandon Mason.

The Dons are set to be without Tennai Watson for an extended period of time after he picked up a knock, and have moved to address the team's depth at the wing bac position with the signing of Mason.

The 24-year-old began his career working his way through the Watford youth academy, making four appearances for the first-team during their 2016/17 Premier League campaign before a loan move to Dundee United and a subsequent transfer to Coventry City in 2018.

With the Sky Blues, Mason featured in 25 league games during in the team's League One-winning campaign and made 46 total appearances for the club before another loan move back to Scotland, this time with St. Mirren last season.

Mason had trained with the Dons at times after leaving Coventry, and will now provide head coach Liam Manning with much-needed depth after the loss of such a key part of the team.

Mason will wear the #31 shirt during his time in Milton Keynes.

Speaking of his signing, Mason commented: "I’m over the moon to get this deal done. I am excited about the opportunity as the Club is in a really positive place."

"I know the guys from having a few days training here and there is definitely a positive atmosphere as well as a strong team cohesion and togetherness. After coming into the dressing room, I instantly knew that this was somewhere I wanted to be."

He added: "During my time out of the game, I have learnt a lot about myself and how I can improve. It has put me in better stead because I have been able to work on certain areas of my game, which I’m ready to express when I get the opportunity on the pitch."

Sporting Director Liam Sweeting said: "We are delighted to welcome Brandon to the Club for the remainder of the season, as we look to ensure we give ourselves the very best opportunity of achieving our targets."

"Brandon trained with us for a short period earlier this season and showed excellent professionalism and commitment to become part of our squad. He has a good relationship with some of our players so should slot in seamlessly and be ready when required."

Manning added: "Brandon is a good addition to the squad. He is someone we got to know while he was training with us earlier this season and he immediately stood out in terms of his character and personality."

He concluded: "On the pitch, he fits the bill in terms of what we require of a wing back. He’s got high energy, pace and a solid left foot. He hasn’t played in a little while but he looks fit and he’s raring to go."
