Milton Keynes Council to host webinars as part of World Suicide Prevention Day

Every year organisations and communities around the world come together to raise awareness of how we can create a world where fewer people die by suicide.

Each year has a different theme and focus, to bring to light a specific aspect of suicide prevention.

Every year, World Suicide Prevention Suicide Day is held on the 10th September.

Every year, suicide is among the top 20 leading causes of death globally for people of all ages.

Every life lost represents someone’s partner, child, parent, friend, or colleague.

For each suicide, approximately 135 people suffer intense grief or are otherwise affected. Preventing suicide is possible and we are all key players in its prevention.

This Thursday (09/09), ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day, Milton Keynes Council are hosting a set of webinars to encourage everyone to recognise the signs of someone who is experiencing suicidal thoughts and know what actions to take to support them.

The event will focus on the following themes:

    • See the Signs (suicide awareness) - Michele Fisher
    • Crisis Cafés (adults experiencing severe mental distress or crisis) - Beth Timms
    • The Samaritans (volunteers, saving lives) – Robert Labe
    • Men’s suicide (heads up campaign) – Tony Isles
    • Stay alive app (suicide prevention) – Grassroots

    Webinar times: (duplicate sessions)
