Yet another Milton Keynes-based fireworks display has been cancelled

This week, it was announced that Milton Keynes' biggest display in Campbell Park will not be taking place this year and it now seems others are following suit.

Families were saddened to find out that Keith Emmett and Sons' annual display and funfair in Campbell Park, which draws crowds of over 100,000 people, will not be going ahead - the first time in its 42 year history.

And now November's firework display in Olney, which is in the borough of Milton Keynes, is the latest event to be cancelled.

The Government's current rule of six makes it illegal to gather in groups of more than six people, both indoors and outdoors, putting event organisers in a tough position.

The Olney Group, which is a non-profit run by locals, made the announcement on social media yesterday (16/9).

It reads: "The Olney Group (TOG) has taken the difficult decision to cancel this year's firework display, which we had planned to hold on Sunday 1st November, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions on social gatherings. We hope you will understand that we have not taken this decision lightly and we look forward to holding next year's event on Sunday 7th November 2021."

Newport Pagnell's annual firework display has also been cancelled, and organisers say they are looking forward to making the 2021 display even more spectacular.
