Yellow weather warning for Milton Keynes over Bank Holiday

The Met Office have issued a Yellow Weather Warning covering both tomorrow and Monday in Milton Keynes.

The weather warning is for expected heavy rain, with "some locally torrential downpours and thunder possible".

In a statement, the Met Office have said that some disruption is possible, with sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses possible.

Torrential rain and thunderstorms could give as much as 30mm of rain, with possibly 40mm an hour in some places. Lightning strikes are also possible, which bring a chance of disruption to power.

More localised forecasts indicate this is most likely to affect our area on Sunday night into the early hours of Monday morning.

The Met Office have however said that "given the hit and miss nature of the heavy rain and thunderstorms, many places will likely see little or no impacts".

The weather warning follows one of the hottest weeks in our city, which led to some speed restrictions being put into place earlier this week on the railway between Milton Keynes Central and Rugby.
