The four winners of the competition for primary schools in Milton Keynes to design a poster warning local residents about the risks of being a victim of a burglary, have been announced.
A total of 91 entries were submitted by Year 4 children (aged eight and nine) from Water Hall, Rickley Park, Abbeys and Knowles primary schools to a competition to design a burglary awareness poster.
Each school chose their top five designs, with each design receiving a £10 Waterstones voucher funded by the Local Policing Area Commander’s Fund. The Bletchley Neighbourhood Policing Team then chose one overall winner from each school.
All winners were invited to Bletchley Police Station on Thursday (11/5) to be presented their winner’s certificate by The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Peter Kara, and a special prize donated by local businesses presented by Deputy Mayor Cllr David Hopkins.
The winners for each school were:
- Rickley Park Primary School – Josh aged 9
- Knowles Primary School – Cathy aged 9
- Abbeys Primary School – Divya aged 9
- Water Hall Primary School – Shanaide aged 9
Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council now display the winners and runners-up posters at its offices based in Queensway, Bletchley.
Inspector Michael Morland said: “The effort spent on designing these posters is fantastic, as is the quality. All participants have worked really hard, which made picking our four winners very tough.
“Congratulations to our winners – their posters will help promote simple steps on how to reduce the chances of being a victim of burglary.”
