Willen Hospice Chief Executive to step down in 2023

Peta Wilkinson is to step down as Chief Executive of the Milton Keynes palliative care charity later this year.

She leaves following six successful years in the role and is set to join The Air Ambulance Service later this year as Chief Executive.

Under Peta’s leadership, Willen Hospice has cared for more people in Milton Keynes than ever before, achieving a remarkable growth in income and reach within the community. More recently, Peta successfully steered the organisation through the COVID-19 pandemic and delivered the £4.7m “Building a Legacy” expansion project, which has significantly broadened the breadth of services the Hospice can provide for local people and their families.

Paul Davis, Chair of Trustees at Willen Hospice, said “I want to thank Peta for her leadership, dedication and unrivalled passion. Whilst the whole organisation and Board of Trustees are very sad to say farewell to Peta, we remain focussed on our mission to ensure the provision of the best possible care for the community of Milton Keynes, and to develop that offering in the years to come. The job of identifying the vitally important position of our next Chief Executive Officer is currently underway. Peta will be in post for many more months, whilst the appointment of the CEO takes place”.

Peta Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Willen Hospice, said “I’m incredibly proud of the work I’ve been part of here at Willen Hospice and the next CEO will inherit an exceptionally well-run charity that’s in a robust financial position with a highly-motivated and passionate group of colleagues, volunteers and supporters. This has been a really difficult decision to make as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my six years at Willen Hospice and it’s been a privilege to be part of an incredible organisation that makes such a difference to the lives of many.”
