Whole year group at Milton Keynes secondary school to self-isolate due to 'high number' of coronavirus cases

Year 8 students at Ousedale School in Newport Pagnell must now self-isolate following a 'high number' of coronavirus cases.

Some Year 8 classes are already in self-isolation following the news that children from a sports team tested positive for coronavirus last week.

But the remainder of parents were contacted on the first day of half-term (26/10) informing them that their child must self-isolate too, meaning that the entire year group must now stay at home.

This follows a "high number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Year 8 cohort at Newport Pagnell".

The school made the "difficult decision" following a meeting where the school was informed that "symptoms of headache and tummy upset are becoming increasingly common COVID-19 positive cases in young people".

Parents are now asked to keep their children off of school if they are feeling poorly or unwell in general.

Ousedale School has been heavily impacted by coronavirus since it reopened last month. A number of sixth form students tested positive after attending a 'party' in Olney, with all other attendees being told to self-isolate.
