Weekend update: 61 cases recorded and infection rate stays below national average

    There were 61 new cases recorded over the weekend and the infection rate has stayed below the national average.

    In Milton Keynes, there were 41 new cases recorded on Saturday (19/6) and 20 new cases on Sunday (20/6), taking the weekend's total to 61.

    This weekend's total figure is higher than the previous weekend, which saw 58 total cases recorded - 31 last Saturday (12/6) and 27 last Sunday (13/6).

    The increase in cases is in line with the national trend.

    It brings the total number of cases in Milton Keynes to 20,841 since the start of the pandemic last year. 188 people have tested positive within the past 7 days.

    The 7-day case rate, or infection rate, in Milton Keynes has increased to 67.2 cases per 100,000 people. 

    This is still below the steadily-increasing national average of 85.1 cases per 100,000 people.

    Nationally, there was an additional 9,284 people who tested positive yesterday. Six deaths were also recorded within 28 days of a positive test.

    These deaths did not take place in Milton Keynes, meaning our virus-linked death toll sits at 463.

    166,635 local people have had their first dose of the vaccine so far and 112,242 people are now fully vaccinated.
