Wanted: Sewing enthusiasts to make scrubs, headbands and wash bags for MK Hospital staff

A local community group is calling on sewing enthusiasts to make scrubs, headbands and wash bags to donate to staff at Milton Keynes Hospital.

The group, called Sewing for the NHS - Bedfordshire, Bucks and Milton Keynes, has invited its 750 plus members to create the much-needed equipment for hospital staff to use.

People have since been spending their days in lockdown making full sets of scrubs, headbands and wash bags. Various materials have been used, ranging from white pillowcases to colourful patterned fabrics.

Hospitals from around the area, including Milton Keynes, Bedford and Stoke Mandeville, have benefited from the generosity of the group's members so far.

Members are making upwards of 10-20 items per day, with one person who is in contact with MK Hospital saying that hospital staff are incredibly grateful for the donations received so far. "Milton Keynes Hospital were so grateful for the headbands they received yesterday," she added.

"[They] have requested more headbands in abundance."

The group is also requesting donations to help bulk buy the resources required to provide the equipment, especially the scrubs. Visit the GoFundMe page by clicking here
