Volkswagen Financial Services team conquer Three Peaks Challenge for Willen Hospice

Fifteen dedicated colleagues from Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) took on the epic Three Peaks Challenge last month, raising over £8,000 for Willen Hospice.

The Three Peaks Challenge dares hikers to climb to the top of the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales – a total climb of 3,064 metres – in just 24 hours. Leaving from the VWFS office in Tongwell, the team drove all the way to Scotland to begin their first of three hikes, starting with the highest, Ben Nevis. After one gruelling hike, it was on the next, Scafell Pike in England, and then finally, over 200 miles away, Snowdon in Wales. Amazingly, four members of the team exceeded expectations and managed to complete the colossal challenge in under 23 hours.

Tracey Jago, Willen Hospice Senior Events Fundraiser, who volunteered to join the support team, said: “I had an amazing time with the team from VWFS. It was probably one of the toughest challenges I have seen people go through - every single one of them was pushed to their limits but they kept on smiling from start to finish. It was an honour to be part of the support crew.”

Steph Willard, VWFS, who was also on the support team, said: “My fondest memories of the whole experience was seeing individuals push themselves harder than they ever expected and never giving up, facetimes from the top of the mountains, singalongs, the continuous support and encouragement for each other, new friends and a whole lot of smiling faces.”

Willen Hospice needs to raise £4.7million every year, that’s £9 a minute. Thanks to companies like VWFS, and individuals, raising money by taking part in a challenge, the Hospice can always be there to care for local families.
