Two coronavirus test centres in Milton Keynes are closed today

Two coronavirus test centres in Milton Keynes are closed today (25/1), with the main drive-through site in Central Milton Keynes being one of them.

Despite the heavy snowfall yesterday (24/1), all three of Milton Keynes' main coronavirus test centres remained open. But it seems that the after effects have taken their toll as two have subsequently had to close.

The drive-in test site opposite Sainsbury's, which is one of the bigger sites in the region, alongside a smaller centre in Bletchley will not be testing residents today.

Another local media outlet is reporting that both sites have frozen pipes, meaning that staff do not have access to running water to wash their hands.

MKFM was contacted by a resident who claimed that people with appointments are being told to come back tomorrow with their QR code which "might or might not work".

This means that only one test site is open in Milton Keynes today. The Wolverton test centre, which only opened last week, is in the Agora Centre car park.

There is a fourth test centre in Milton Keynes, but this is only open on a part-time basis. The Newport Pagnell centre is open on Monday's and Friday's.

MKFM has contacted the Department of Health and Social Care for further information.
