Thousands of parents will find out today (16/4) which primary or junior school their child will be moving to in September.

A total of 4,718 applications were made for children starting primary school or transferring to junior school in 2020. 99% of children in Milton Keynes will be offered one of their preferences this year with 91% of those starting primary school getting their first choice.

Milton Keynes Council has a well-established school place planning service which means that all children in Milton Keynes have been offered a local place.

The council has worked with schools in growth areas to make sure spaces keep up with demand, and likewise with schools in established areas where fewer places were required.

Councillor Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “Despite the challenges of school closures and lockdown, we have continued to work closely with schools and other local authorities.

"We have ensured that all children in Milton Keynes can access a local school place. We are delighted that the vast majority of our children have landed a preferred choice.”

A small number of late applications have been received and offers for these places will be made during May. Parents who still need to make an application should complete a late application form which is available on the council’s website at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
