The best ways to celebrate Mother's Day during lockdown

While the COVID-19 pandemic may have disrupted many people's plans for celebrating Mother's Day this year, there is no reason to put a stop to the celebrations even though we are under lockdown.

As today (14/03) marks Mother's Day, here are some of the best ways that you can celebrate the special day under lockdown:

Cook her a meal - Whether it be making her breakfast in bed or a luxury 3-course meal, show your appreciation to your mum by making her a special meal for her to remember. Even if you are no good in the kitchen, you can always ask someone for help or even look online for some quick and easy cooking tutorials.

Order a takeaway - If cooking really isn't your thing, then you can always order a takeaway for a hassle-free meal this evening. Lots of delivery companies are running promotions today for discounts/meal-deals on both smaller local businesses and big-name brands alike.

Have a movie night - You can always spend the evening relaxing with your mum viewing her favourite film or binge-watching some TV episodes on a laptop or the TV. With the countless amount of content available via online streaming, there is lots to choose from so you'll be spoilt for choice.

Help with the housework - To help your mum out this weekend, why not clean the house to help your mum relax? It can be anything from a full house clean to something as simple as just hoovering your room. She is sure to appreciate your help with even the smallest of tasks.

Plan a post-lockdown trip - Although not much is currently open during lockdown, you can always make future plans with your mum of where you would like to go once things begin to reopen again. It can be anything from an exotic international holiday to a simple visit to a local restaurant. Try to find a unique day out that your mum will remember for years to come.

Host a Zoom call - As not everyone is currently in the same household as their mum, you can always keep in contact over Zoom or even through a simple phone call. It's sure to mean the world to her if you reach out to her on this special day!
