'Technical problems' affecting NHS 111 service in Milton Keynes today

Members of the public are reporting problems accessing the 111 non-emergency NHS phone number in Milton Keynes today.

South Central Ambulance Service have confirmed that patients calling the number may experience issues due to technical problems.

The service tweeted: "Due to technical problems with the national software system we use for our 111 service, unfortunately people calling 111 today for medical information or advice may not be able to immediately get through to speak to an advisor or clinician."

"If you are unable to reach us initially on the phone when dialling 111, you can always visit your local pharmacy for clinical advice and medicines for a range of minor illnesses or check your symptoms online."

The service also advised patients to visit their nearest walk-in centre or minor injuries unit.

They added: "Our staff are working hard to ensure we reach all patients who need medical advice/information today."
