Stop and search order issued in part of Milton Keynes after group of males spotted in possession of 'hammers and bladed articles'

    A section 60 order has been authorised from 5pm today (10/07) to run for 24 hours until 5pm tomorrow (11/07).

    It covers the area of Newport Pagnell. This area is depicted in the map pictured.

    The order has been put in place following reports of four males in possession of hammers and bladed articles in Newport Pagnell today.

    Officers from Thames Valley Police attended the scene and it is not believed that anyone has been injured.

    As a result of this report, officers have enacted a Section 60 order in the area. This will give them extra powers to carry out stop and search.

    Superintendent Felicity Parker, said: "I understand that these reports and the Section 60 order may cause some concern in the community, however we are carrying out an investigation and the Section 60 order is an important part of this.

    "It is designed to help our investigation, as well as prevent violence from occurring. It may be extended if necessary.

    "You may see an increased police presence in the area during this time, as there will be additional patrols, this is all part of our work to investigate and keep you safe.

    "Please feel free to talk to our officers, they can help to answer any questions.

    "The investigation is ongoing in to these reports and we would ask anyone with information about this to come forward and report to police.
