Stolen moped found on fire in Milton Keynes underpass

    Firefighters attended a deliberate fire in an underpass between Furzton and Shenley Lodge last night (27/7).

    The bike was reported as stolen from Nettlecombe, Furzton at around 6.35pm yesterday(27/7).

    "5 lads on 2 different bikes pulled up outside mine and ran off with it," Moped owner David told MKFM: "From what I gather, they pushed it all the way to shenley lodge underpass and torched it."

    A photo captured by a friend shows two people running away from the scene where the moped was stolen.

    Bucks Fire released an update at 7:17pm last night that they were called to the Chaffron Way underpass between Furzton and Shenley Lodge as a moped was reported on fire.

    They believe the fire was set deliberately.

    Thames Valley Police has confirmed to Milton Keynes since the reports that the stolen bike was in fact the one found by a fire crew last night.

    A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police has said: "We received reports of a theft of a motorcycle by around five male youths at around 6.35pm in Nettlecombe, Milton Keynes. Officers attended and carried out a search.

    "Officers located the motorcycle which has been set on fire in an underpass between Furzton and Shenley Lodge, fire crews attended to extinguish the fire. The offenders were not on scene.

    "An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 43210335333."
