Over 70 students at Oakgrove School self-isolating after staff member tests positive for COVID-19

Oakgrove School has announced that a member of staff has tested positive for COVID-19 and that over 70 pupils are now self-isolating.

Headteacher Ian Tett contacted parents on Tuesday (6/10) stating that the school has been working closely with Public Health England, the Local Authority and the Department for Education to take "immediate action and implement the necessary precautions".

"We have established when they were tested and tracked back groups who would have been taught by the member of staff in the 48 hours previous to symptoms developing," he said.

The Headteacher proceeded to add that from the school's investigation, 74 students across various year groups and 2 staff members were said to have had "close contact" with the positive case.

These people will now be self-isolating for two weeks while the remainder of the school will continue to operate as normal.

Students in self-isolation will be taught remotely.
