Stadium MK included in bid for UK to host Women's Euro 2021 Championship

Stadium MK in Milton Keynes has been selected as one of nine stadiums which have been included in a bid by the FA to host the Women's Euro 2021 Championship in the UK.

Officials at UEFA will decide which country will host the tournament at the start of December, and if the UK is successful then a number of games will be played in Milton Keynes.

It wouldn't be the first time Women's Football has been hosted in Milton Keynes, with the England Ladies playing a match at the stadium last year.

Amongst the other stadiums set to host games are Manchester's Manchester City Academy Stadium, Brighton's AMEX Stadium, Nottingham's Meadow Lane, Wembley Stadium and the Brentford Community Stadium in London, Peterborough's ABAX Stadium, Bramall Lane in Sheffield and Rotherham's AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman told ITV News: “We are so excited to be part of the FA's bid to host the UEFA Women's EURO 2021 tournament."

"We're proud to support women's football in Milton Keynes as can be seen by our women's first team playing their home matches at Stadium MK, following their promotion to the FA Women's National League."

"Tournaments like this are good for sport, good for the stadium and good for our city - we can't wait!"
