It has been reported that waters going through Tattenhoe are contaminated with some sort of fuel, believed to be diesel.

Last night, one person said that their dog went in the river near Tattenhoe Valley and came out covered in a fuel-like substance.

Another person stated that they could smell it from their house, and walked down to the brook to discover it was "heavily contaminated".

A photograph, as seen by MKFM, shows a high presence of fuel in the water near the bandstand.

Cllr James Lancaster (Cons, Tattenhoe) has urged residents to report this to the Environmental Agency, The Parks Trust and the Parish Council.

He has also warned residents to be cautious when walking dogs in the area. He concluded: "Together as a community we can help make everyone aware and work with all groups to make a difference and in hope this doesn't happen again."

The Parks Trust says: "Our team have visited the location reported to us as having been contaminated with fuel. We have spoken to the Environment Agency and this issue is known to them, they are currently onsite resolving this."
