Recognition for MK volunteers and charities

    On Monday 15th March, in a virtual awards ceremony, High Sheriff Andrew Francombe recognised members of the voluntary, community and cultural sector across Buckinghamshire.

    The event was attended by 70 people including family and friends of the award recipients.

    MK Community Foundation nominated two individuals and two organisations, the High Sheriff was pleased to endorse the nominations and present High Sheriff Award certificates, as a token of admiration and appreciation on behalf of the people of the County of Buckinghamshire.

    In Milton Keynes, awards were presented to:

    • Gamiel Yafai in recognition of his commitment and dedication to improving understanding of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion across the MK community.

    • Preston Ayres in recognition of his commitment and dedication in 36 years as Treasurer at Milton Keynes YMCA.

    • MOTUS in recognition of their work providing thought-provoking and imaginative dance experience to the people of MK during Covid-19 and helping their mental health and wellbeing.

    • YiS (Youth information Service) in recognition of their counselling service to young people who live, work or study in MK.

    MK Community Foundation is a leading grant-making charity in Milton Keynes working for and at the heart of Milton Keynes. They connect people and resources to projects and ideas to create positive change in our communities. Since the MK Community Foundation began in 1986, they have awarded over £20 million worth of support through grants and rent subsidy to our local voluntary sector.
