Pupils at Milton Keynes primary school told to self-isolate just two days after returning to class

Pupils at a local primary school have been told to self-isolate just two days after returning to the classroom as a child has tested positive.

Before schools closed in December, there were coronavirus outbreaks amongst pupils being announced almost daily.

And now that children are beginning to return to in-person teaching this week, it is expected that these outbreaks are likely to continue - although measures have been put in place, including regular testing, to make the classrooms as safe as possible.

It was announced today (9/3) that Two Mile Ash School has already seen a case of the virus, as a Year 4 pupil has tested positive for COVID-19.

This child was in school prior to testing positive, and as a result, a year group bubble must now self-isolate.

The school sent a letter to parents explaining in further detail and stated that because of the strict year group bubbles the rest of the school will remain unaffected.

The letter adds: "Please can I reassure you that we have taken every precaution to minimise the risk to your child including: keeping children within year group bubbles throughout the school day, ensuring all pupils have washed their hands and continue to display good hygiene habits, classrooms and well ventilated and surfaces and equipment are regularly cleaned, and affected areas in school have now undergone a deep clean with a specialist fogging machine."

Those children who have been in close contact with the affected pupil will have to self-isolate until Friday 19th March.
