A string of local pubs have been donating meals to those in need, including frontline workers and the homeless, since the start of the pandemic.

When the closure of pubs and restaurants was announced back in March, Great British Inns, which owns six local pubs, donated all of its stock to various good causes including the NHS, YMCA MK, The Brother's Supper, Age UK, and people who were shielding.

"With the weekend of closing being announced on Mother’s Day weekend we were lucky enough to have an abundance of stock to donate to everyone," said Alban from Great British Inns.

The family run company owns sites that are popular with residents including The Three Trees in Bletchley, The Red House in Newport Pagnell, The Wheatsheaf in Bow Brickhill, The Anchor in Aspley Guise, The Bull in Stony Stratford, and The Ship Inn in Leighton Buzzard.

These pubs have been delivering Sunday roasts to frontline workers every week. Organisations that have received meals include the South Central Ambulance Service, local fire stations, various wards at Milton Keynes Hospital, and Willen Hospice.

Last weekend, they also supplied 65 roast dinners to the homeless in Milton Keynes. And the pubs have managed to donate nearly 2,000 meals in total between all six sites.

Alban continued: "We have been donating and delivering to our front line workers and those in need with absolutely no cost and also helping out local companies where ever we can."
