Proposed appointment for Thames Valley Police Chief Constable named

    Matthew Barber, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley Police has named his proposed appointment for Thames Valley Police Chief Constable.

    The Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, John Campbell, announced his intention to retire from his role as Chief Constable at the end of his term, on 31 March 2023.

    Now, Matthew Barber, the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Thames Valley police force has named his proposed appointment for the role as current Deputy Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, Jason Hogg.

    Jason has held his Deputy Chief position since 2019.

    Matthew Barber said: “After a detailed selection process I am delighted to announce that Jason Hogg is my preferred candidate to be appointed as the next Chief Constable for Thames Valley Police.

    "Jason has been with Thames Valley Police for over six years. He is done an excellent job as Deputy Chief Constable and throughout his career with the force and I look to forward to working closely with him in the future.”

    The appointment is subject to a confirmation hearing by the Thames Valley Police and Crime Panel who will review the PCC’s proposed appointment.

    The hearing is expected to take place on Friday 18th November.

    John Campbell, who has been Chief Constable since 2018, said: “At the end of March 2023, my term as Chief Constable concludes, and after four years in the post, over 13 years within the force and more than 35 years in the policing, I have decided it is the right time for me to retire.

    “Making this announcement now allows plenty of time for a smooth transition to the new Chief Constable in the spring. I remain fully committed to leading the force over the next seven months.

    “It has been an honour serving the communities of the Thames Valley, and I am immensely proud of the officers, staff and volunteers who work around the clock, every single day, to keep our communities safe.”
