Primary school children create artwork to display in brand new Milton Keynes medical centre

Primary school children have created artwork that will be displayed in a brand new local medical centre.

OneMedical Group, which is responsible for the new Whitehouse Health Centre, launched a competition earlier this year asking local schools to get involved.

Children from Whitehouse Primary School and Fairfields Primary School submitted their best work, with one winner and two runners up selected from each school.

The art was created with a focus on community, encouraging the children to depict what community means to them in their submissions. The winning pieces were selected by judges from the CCG, Milton Keynes Council and OneMedical Group.

The winning pieces all share strong messaging on what community means to the children, with key themes including acceptance and diversity.

In 1st place at Whitehouse Primary School was a student from Year 6 who created a submission using the colours of the rainbow along with a tree and a beating heart. Aubrey from Year 2 was a runner up, along with students from Foundation who submitted a piece together.

At Fairfields Primary School, Ayan came in 1st place with a submission that showcased many different families, homes and the importance of the NHS within the community. Runners up were Blessing and Lily-Mae both in Year 5.

Dr Will Dawson, Chief Executive of OneMedical Group, commented: “The quality of entries we received from the schools were incredible, and we were so pleased and inspired to see the children depict what ‘community’ means to them.

“In light of recent times, community is more important than ever to support those who may be feeling lonely or anxious. The artwork really shines a light on the fantastic community spirit in Milton Keynes and some much-needed positivity. We can’t wait to showcase the winning pieces in the new Whitehouse Health Centre.

“A huge thank you goes out to both schools and all the students who created some incredible artwork for us. It really was a tough competition!”
