Popular independent breakfast restaurant in Milton Keynes set to close

Fourth and Fifth has confirmed that they will be permanently closing at the end of the month.

Fourth and Fifth opened in 2017 and, in March, was in a "good position" to remain in business for several months during lockdown.

A spokesperson has confirmed that the brunch hotspot, which is based at Witan Studios, is closing due to the landlord not renewing their lease and is not covid-related in the slightest.

In their closing statement, the spokesperson said that the landlord has chosen to go in a "different direction". They added: "Each year we grew on our last and we are still on a steady incline even as we plan for our premature demise. The plan was always to create such a place, our landlord’s vision and ours, and we achieved it."

The date for the closure has not yet been announced, but Fourth and Fifth has said they will be continuing to take bookings up until the final day.

They added: "We thank all of you who have visited with us over the last 3 years, we know many have shared happy memories with family, friends and even us, total strangers before, and this is what we always wanted. We can’t thank our staff enough, those since the start and those that have come and gone, all of them contributed to what Fourth & Fifth was and now always will be when we look back on it. Thank you."

Fourth and Fifth have published their closing statement in a Q&A format which also states that the business is for sale. View it here

Although this unfortunate closure is not related to coronavirus, plenty of businesses in the local area have been hit hard by the pandemic.

With a deep recession, is it inevitable that both local and national businesses will suffer and have to make the difficult decision to close their doors for good.

Some businesses that have been forced to close due include Debenhams, Frankie and Benny's, Cath Kidston, Chicheley Hall, and Sellwells Fenny Antiques Centre.
