Police increase presence across Thames Valley area in bid to reassure staff at vaccination sites

Police have been stepping up presence across the Thames Valley Policing area over the past few days.

TVP took to Facebook to tell residents that they were going to be out and about today and yesterday (20/1). They invited residents to talk to them and raise any concerns whilst they were in the area.

Police told MKFM that they were going to be out across the area after being made aware of a number of incidents that have taken place.

Staff and volunteers at vaccination centres have been made to feel intimidated by a number of individuals.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police told MKFM: “Thames Valley Police is aware of a number of incidents where individuals have sought to intimidate staff and volunteers working at vaccination centres as well as attending police stations to report what they believe to be criminal offences relating to the Covid-19 vaccine.

“We are committed to supporting the public’s right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression whilst also keeping the public safe, preventing crime and disorder, and seeking to minimise disruption.

“Any efforts to intimidate, harass, or commit assault against emergency service workers, staff and volunteers will not be tolerated and will be treated and investigated as a criminal matter.”
