Police continue to patrol Milton Keynes following violent incidents

Thames Valley Police officers are continuing to patrol Milton Keynes following the Section 60 that was in place over the last few days.

So far this month, two separate section 60s have been put in place across the city following violent incidents, with one extended following a review from senior officers.

A Section 60 order can only be put in place in a defined area at a specific time when a senior officer believes there is a possibility of serious violence, or weapons being carried.

The order temporarily enhances powers for officers, meaning they can stop and search anyone in the area shown on the map below.

Thames Valley Police told MKFM that during the 24-hour Section 60 which was introduced at 5pm on Wednesday 10th May, 5 stop searches were conducted and no weapons were seized.

One arrest was made for possession of class A drugs and a community resolution was issued for possession of class B drugs.

The Section 60 was put in place based on intelligence from ongoing investigations into violent incidents that have taken place in the city over the past week or so.

Next week, Thames Valley Police is joining police forces across the country by taking part in Operation Sceptre, a national week of action designed to reduce the threat of knife crime across the Thames Valley by removing dangerous weapons from the streets.

The knife amnesty will run next week, between Monday 15 May and Sunday 21 May, during which we would like to remind members of the public that they can safely and anonymously dispose of any type of knife or bladed article. The knife amnesty bins are available to use all year round.

These can be found in the following locations across MK:

    • Westcroft Centre
    • Wimborne Crescent
    • Frank Moran Centre (West Bletchley)
    • Melrose Avenue (West Bletchley)
    • Milton Keynes Police Station
