Electric car maker Polestar opens new test drive hub in Milton Keynes

Polestar, a Swedish electric car maker, has opened a test drive hub in Milton Keynes to meet the growing demand from local customers.

Electric and hybrid cars are becoming increasingly popular, especially as the Government has announced that the sale of new petrol and diesel cars will be banned by 2030.

Milton Keynes is well-suited for the electric car revolution; Government data shows that the city has more car charging points than anywhere else in the country.

The number of local car charging points has also increased by nearly a fifth (19%) in the past year alone.

As a result, Polestar has opened a brand-new hub in Stacey Bushes where residents can test drive their electric vehicles.

The 8,000 sq ft location will offer 7,000 people the opportunity to trial the Polestar 2 by the end of 2021.

Explaining why the company chose Milton Keynes for its hub, CEO of Polestar UK, Jonathan Goodman, said: "We saw such huge demand in 2020 for test drives, it was clear we needed to deliver more opportunity for consumers to experience our fully-electric Polestar 2 first-hand.

"But it had to be done in a high-quality way befitting the Polestar brand and be easy to book and access, and so Milton Keynes was an obvious choice.

"Excellent transport links, great test drive routes and a reputation as the foremost technological centre of the UK ensure it’s the perfect location for us."

Polestar UK will also be launching a number of semi-permanent test drive locations across the UK, including Daventry, Cambridge and Harrogate this summer.

Test drives of the Polestar 2 are available to book on Polestar's website.

Those who wish to test drive other electric vehicles, including the Mini Electric, VW eGolf and BMW i3, can visit the EV Centre, which is the UK's first brand-neutral centre for electric and plug-in vehicles.
