People over the age of 34 in Milton Keynes can now book to have their COVID-19 vaccine

The vaccination programme has extended once more, this time offering the life-saving jab to everybody over the age of 34.

The announcement has been made today (20/5), meaning that this is the second time that more people have been called forward in the past week.

Over one million people across the country will soon be receiving a text message letting them know that they can book to have their vaccine at one of their local vaccination centres.

The booking service will allow eligible residents to book their slot at the click of a button, while also being able to arrange their second dose.

In the borough of Milton Keynes, there are several vaccination centres including the Saxon Court Mass Vaccination Centre and other GP and pharmacy-run clinics that are each vaccinating hundreds of people each day.

Aside from vaccinating eligible residents, there have also been instances where doses of the vaccine, most commonly Pfizer, have been offered to younger age groups due to extra supply.

It has been reported on social media that people as young as 18 that are registered to Cobbs Garden Surgery in Olney have been given the vaccine to prevent it from going to waste.

These extra doses have now been used, but more Olney residents are likely to be contacted as more vaccine deliveries come in.

When looking at extending the national rollout, people in their early thirties could get the chance to be vaccinated "over the next few days and week".

People 39 and under who are eligible, and pregnant women, will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with recently updated JCVI guidance.
