People over 75-years-old can now receive the coronavirus vaccine at Milton Keynes Hospital

For the first time ever, people aged 75 (and over) can now receive the coronavirus vaccination at Milton Keynes Hospital.

Milton Keynes Hospital is currently only offering the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine due to the hospital's ability to store it  at -70C.

Since the booking line first opened last month, hospital staff have received thousands of calls. During the first week of rolling out the vaccine, a call was being taken every thirty seconds. This high demand meant that the line had to close, and all appointments were soon taken up.

The vaccine was previously reserved for those over the age of 80, but from today (6/1) the booking line has reopened allowing those in the next group - 75 plus - to receive it.

It is expected that this high demand for the vaccine will continue now that the lines have reopened. It is advised that those who are eligible should call to book their vaccination slot as soon as possible.

People over the age of 75 who wish to have the free vaccination, provided by the NHS, should call Milton Keynes Hospital on 01908 997878 between 0800 – 1700hrs.
