People on low-income in Milton Keynes may be entitled to Cold Weather Payment

People in Milton Keynes may be eligible for the Government's Cold Weather Payment to help with increased costs during the winter months.

Residents may receive the payment if they are getting Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit, and support for Mortgage Interest.

The payment will be issued if the average temperature in Milton Keynes is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.

Those eligible for the payment will get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather.

The Cold Weather Payment scheme runs from 1 November 2020 to 31 March 2021.

These payments are different from the already running Winter Fuel Payment, whereby people born on or before 5 October 1954 could get between £100 and £300 to help pay heating bills.
