Passengers in Milton Keynes urged to plan ahead to avoid more rail upgrade impacts over May Bank Holiday

Major May Bank Holiday engineering work is set to take place between London Euston and Scotland.

Following the Easter Bank Holiday closures, passengers are being warned to plan ahead when it comes to travelling to and from Euston during the May Bank Holiday.

More work is set to take place between 30th April – 2nd May 2022.

National Rail has announced plans to invest millions of pounds to improve journeys for passengers and freight on the West Coast main line.

They warn: "We strongly advise passengers travelling between London Euston and Scotland on these dates to travel either side of both long weekends (15 – 18 April and 30 April – 2 May). This is while we upgrade the railway.

"Passengers needing to travel could have longer, busier journeys and may need to use rail replacement buses."

The routes affected set to be:

    • between London Euston and Milton Keynes
    • on the Coventry corridor from Leamington to Coventry and Rugeley to Birmingham New Street (Easter weekend only)
    • on services to and through Crewe
    • between Carlisle and Glasgow and Edinburgh (Easter weekend only).
