Over 25s in Milton Keynes can book their COVID-19 vaccine from today

Over 25s in Milton Keynes are now being invited to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

The Government has extended its vaccination rollout to anyone between 25 and 30-years-old on the six month anniversary of the first vaccination in the UK.

This means that millions of more people across the country are now eligible, and will soon be receiving a text message from the NHS to book.

However, over 25s do not need to wait for this text message and can simply visit the online booking service to reserve an appointment.

Since the rollout extended earlier this morning, people have reported being left in long queues of "up to 12,000 people" and alleged that there have been glitches on the website.

It comes after the Government made an announcement yesterday (7/6) about the extension of the rollout, meaning that millions of people were ready and waiting to book the jab.

NHS England chief executive, Sir Simon Stevens, said yesterday: "The NHS vaccination programme is a real team effort and it is a testament to NHS teams across the country, that we are able to open up to people in their twenties just six months on from delivering that world first jab to Maggie Keenan.

"The tireless efforts of NHS staff to protect the people they care for and their communities has quite simply saved lives, and when you get the text, you’re next."

People aged 39 and under who are eligible and pregnant women will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with updated JCVI guidance.

Those who cannot go online can call the service on 119 instead to book their jab.
