Over 17,000 miles walked by families in Milton Keynes using Love Exploring app

Last year, Milton Keynes City Council launched a brand new augmented reality app to help children and families to explore the city.

Since launching, the app, named 'Love Exploring', has been downloaded more than 7,000 times with an estimated 17,000 miles walked.

The free to play smartphone app showcases more than 50km of specially designed trails in 16 different locations around MK.

The app brings everything from fairies, dinosaurs and spooky creatures to parks and streets across the city and is designed to encourage children and young people to get active and walk around their local area.

Cllr Jane Carr, Cabinet member for Inequalities and Child Poverty said: "We’re delighted that this free app has proven so popular with local families. We’ve also had great engagement from our schools and look forward to introducing new games, routes and features in the next twelve months.

"We’re lucky to have beautiful parks and historical places throughout our city and this app is a fun way to connect local children and their families with some of these great locations.”

The app was commissioned by Milton Keynes City Council and developed in partnership with Sprytar and local organisations including The Parks Trust.

The Love Exploring app is now live and available via Google Play and the App Store.

You can also download it from the official website.
