One rape and 14 domestic incidents reported in Milton Keynes over the past 24 hours

Thames Valley Police often shares updates of what 24 hours of policing looks like in Milton Keynes - the latest information has been released.

These updates are provided following Thames Valley Police's daily management meeting, which was today (11/1) chaired by Superintendent Marc Tarbit.

In the meeting, the most notable crimes and incidents were reviewed and discussed.

Usually in these meetings there are reports of burglaries or robberies taking place in the city, but none have been reported in the past 24 hours.

A reoccurring pattern, however, is that there continues to be a number of domestic crimes and incidents reported to police.

According to Women's Aid, domestic abuse has increased during the coronavirus pandemic. 67% of people who responded to a Women's Aid survey said their abuse had escalated over the past year.

In the past 24 hours, 14 domestic crimes and incidents were reported to the city's local police force. These reports were all made in Milton Keynes, and range from non-crime incidents to allegations of stalking and assaults.

An incident of rape was also reported to police, which will be reviewed by the Criminal Investigations Department for investigation.

Other crimes reported included one incident of actual bodily harm, and 97 reports for non-compliance of COVID-related matters.

There are a number of organisations here in Milton Keynes that will support and provide advice for those experiencing domestic abuse. Click here to find out more information about help, and housing options.

Last month, it was announced that over £124,000 has been awarded by Thames Valley Police to charities and CIC's to support them in helping victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence.

This second round of emergency funding covers costs incurred and anticipated spending from 1st November – 31st March 2021. In the first round of funding in July, the PCC awarded £807,000 to 26 organisations.
