Olney Barclays JCB Raid: Six weeks of clean up work set to start next Wednesday

Specialist contractors are set to start clean up work at the Barclays Bank in Olney near Milton Keynes next Wednesday, after the building was ram-raided by a JCB digger last month.

Work will start next Wednesday 29th August to remove the asbestos in the building and secure the premises fully.

It is expected to take around six weeks and will lead to a closure of the footpath and a number of parking bays at the site.

Thieves used the digger to destroy the front of the bank on Olney High Street, which remains sealed off and is currently being guarded by two security personnel 24 hours a day.

Police have said that investigations are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to report it to police online or by calling 101 and quoting the reference ‘43180231409’.

MKFM obtained the video on this page the day after the raid, which shows the criminals using the JCB to obtain the cash machine in the bank.

Officers were called at around 3:05am on Sunday 29th July following reports a JCB had been used to force entry into Barclays Bank.

They arrived on the scene ten minutes later.
