Nearly 80% of over 80s have been vaccinated in Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire

The latest figures indicate nearly 80% of people over 80-years-old have received the COVID-19 vaccination in Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire.

Data published by NHS England shows that 79.5% of people aged 80+ in Milton Keynes, Luton, and Bedfordshire have received the first dose.

31,580 over 80s have had the first dose, while 4,100 have had the second dose.

Just last week, MKFM revealed that over 52,000 total doses had been administered - and now that total sits at 94,554.

The health region has a population of around 1 million people, meaning around 9.45% of residents living in our area have been vaccinated.

58,219 of these people are under the age of 80.

Milton Keynes Hospital has already confirmed they have given 10,000 people their first dose of the vaccine.

And additional vaccination sites are up and running across the city as well, with two more opening this month.

Updated figures will now be released by NHS England on a weekly basis.
