A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Two Mile Ash on Saturday morning (29/2).

Officers were called by South Central Ambulance Service to a house on Clay Hill at around 9:15 am and discovered a 49-year-old man with serious injuries. The man died at the scene despite efforts to save his life.

Thames Valley Police has confirmed the launch of the investigation, following a Home Office post-mortem examination that took place yesterday (1/3). It confirmed the man died from a stab wound to the neck.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Sally Spencer of the Major Crime Unit based at Taplow, said: “Following the conclusion of the post-mortem, we can now confirm that this is a murder investigation. The victim’s next of kin have been made aware and his family are being supported by specially trained officers.

“Formal identification has yet to take place, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and all those affected."

It has been revealed that a 24-year-old man from Nuneaton and a 49-year-old woman from Milton Keynes were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

A further detention warrant has been granted while investigations continue meaning they cannot leave custody.

Residents have taken to Facebook to share their concerns, with police reassuring the community that they are "working around the clock to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and there remains a scene-watch in place at the property."

Detective Inspector Spencer continued: “Naturally, there will be concern at such an incident, but there will be a continued increased police presence and house to house enquiries while investigations continue."
