'MumPod' for breastfeeding parents comes to Milton Keynes shopping centre this summer

A brand-new concept named ‘MumPod’ will be arriving at Midsummer Place shopping centre on Sunday 1 August for one week, to mark the start of World Breastfeeding Week 2021.

The MumPod was an idea born here in Milton Keynes, when Managing Director and Founder, Rosamund McFadden.

Rosamund spotted a gap in the market to create a solution for new parents who want the option of somewhere private and peaceful to express, or breastfeed and care for their baby whilst on the go.

Whilst located in Midsummer Place, the pod can be used on a first come first serve basis, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the unit and make use of an uninterrupted time slot inside the pod.

The stand-alone unit is wheelchair accessible with easy-to-clean surfaces, comfortable seating and an extendable footrest, a drop-down table, charger points, a handsfree sanitiser station, a secure locking mechanism and housing for a milk fridge.

Ahead of their arrival, Rosamund commented: “I’m so excited to finally be able to unveil the new MumPod. Having worked closely with parents and employers over the years, in my roles as both midwife and lactation consultant, it became very apparent to me that there is a severe shortage of places for parents to breastfeed or express, whether at work or out and about.”

Customers will find the MumPod on the Boulevard outside the Wrapchic and Souv-lucky Day eateries from Sunday 1 August to Saturday 7 August 2021.
