MP Mark Lancaster visits local tool charity

Mark Lancaster MP met with Tools for Self Reliance MK last week to find out how they are helping the local community.

Based in their workshop in Pennyland, the team, who have been operating since 1989, expertly refurbish old tradesmen’s tools to an incredibly high standard and then ship them to Africa and other developing countries.

Working in partnership with Camphill residents who have learning disabilities, they refurbish over 85% of the donated tools and to date approximately 48,000 tools have been sent abroad, some of which are sold locally to raise much-needed funds.

After seeing the team at work, Mark commented, “This is a truly inspiring concept. Recycling unwanted tools, providing skills training and volunteering opportunities for local people and then to provide tool kits for developing countries, without question, has a positive impact on all concerned.”
