Milton Keynes will be home to one of the UK's largest Christmas Grottos this year

It has been confirmed that the Christmas Grotto at the centre:mk is set to be one of the largest in the UK this year.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, families were left questioning whether the popular festive experience at Middleton Hall would be taking place.

This is because the centre:mk was one of the final organisations to make the announcement regarding this year's Grotto while Bletchley Park, Frosts Garden Centre, and the Woburn Sands Emporium had already their released tickets.

But a brand-new theatrical experience will be coming to the centre:mk from next month, with the theme being centered around Peter Rabbit and friends... and it will be one of the largest Grottos in the UK.

Children will meet Squirrel Nutkin, Mr. Tod and even decorate elf biscuits with Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, before meeting Santa himself.

Each family will spend 25 to 30 minutes enjoying the experience, which includes a decorated Christmas Elf biscuit in a gift bag and a gift from Santa for each child.

Kevin Duffy, Centre Director, said: “Christmas really is for the children and we wanted to bring something extra special this year to try and make up for what has been a very difficult year for everybody. The team have been planning this for months, scrutinising every aspect to ensure it can be delivered in line with all the Government guidance. We are very lucky to have such a huge event space in Middleton Hall, which with the wide airy malls does make it all a little easier to ensure we can deliver that special festive spirit while making sure everyone can visit with confidence."

In other news, Milton Keynes Theatre will be reopening to host a socially-distanced pantomime this year.

This means that between December 2020 and January 2021, Sleeping Beauty will be the first production shown at the local theatre after many months of closure.
