Milton Keynes welcomes new Deputy LPA Commander

Chief Inspector John Batty has been appointed as the new Deputy Commander for the Milton Keynes Local Policing Area (LPA)

Chief Inspector John Batty started his new role on Sunday 1 April taking over from Chief Inspector Neil Kentish who has moved to become LPA Commander of Chiltern and South Buckinghamshire.

C/Insp Batty is returning to Milton Keynes after spending the last four years as a Neighbourhood Inspector in Cherwell and West Oxfordshire. He joined Thames Valley Police in 1998 as a response officer in Oxford. Since then he has worked as a Firearms Officer, a response sergeant in Aylesbury and a response inspector for Milton Keynes. C/Insp Batty also spent one year working for South Australia Police and so will bring a wealth of experience with him to Milton Keynes.

In his new role as Deputy LPA Commander, C/Insp Batty plans to build on existing relationships in the local community and form new ones to empower and inform residents both on the work of the police and what can be done locally to help prevent crime. He will also look to further improve the effectiveness of the deployment of officers to the crimes that most affect the many different communities of Milton Keynes.

On his new appointment, C/Insp Batty said: “I am really looking forward to be coming back to Milton Keynes which is a great area to work in. It’s a chance to catch up with those I have worked with previously and meet those who have joined the area since I left. I see my role as doing all I can to support our staff in keeping our communities safe and ensuring that people know about the good work officers do every day on their behalf.”
