Milton Keynes turns 53!

We asked MKFM listeners what their favourite memory of MK is.

Here are some of the comments we received on Facebook:

"Moved here from a terrible grotty flat in London 1977 two very young boys, fell in love with Stony Stratford, lived close by ever since, do not like the new expansion area at all changing the area and not for the good. I love the walks along the canal or lakes Lodge Lake being nearest and best."

"Moving here on 26th July 1987 from Clapham South London on my daughters birthday and I was 26. One of the best decisions of my life!"

"Remembering when the shopping centre wasn’t even there. Getting the 426 bus! All the green areas which are slowly getting built on! Lots of good memories of this great town!"

"How it felt to be offered somewhere to live, and how wonderful it was to move in to a house with a garden."

"I love how it grows with the young, so much to do for them."

"Rollers and the Dolphin Pool at Shenley."

"My parents taking me (then aged 9) and my Sister (then aged 7) to The Point on Christmas Eve 1985 just after it opened to see Santa Claus The Movie. We'd never been so excited. I loved that place and spent many happy times there with friends over the following years. So sad to see it's demise."

"My beautiful daughter was 7 on the day we moved to MK. She wanted a birthday party. I invited all the kids around and we had a bit of a party and I had even bought cake. So she had a lovely party in the end."

"Happiest day of my life when we moved to Bletchley in June 1967 I loved it there. Lived there 35/years. Until our kids decided to come to adelaide! Lots of happy memories and good friends."

"We moved here 1970 and our dad built the windmill golf course he was head greenkeeper he certainly left his mark."

"Watching Rocky IV at The Point in 1985. Every cinema was playing the film and it was packed to the rafters."

"Oasis bar and meeting my hubby there!"
