Milton Keynes residents set to spend £5.3million on Mother's Day gifts

Mothers in Milton Keynes are set to be treated this Mother’s Day after new research has shown that our city will splash out a massive £5.3million on gifts, family meals and days out.

A survey of over 2,000 people by British Land, owners of The Kingston Centre in our city, found that the people of Milton Keynes will spend a whopping £479,300 on greetings cards and £463,700 on pamper products

But the survey did find that mothers in the our city deserve the treat as nearly six in ten mums polled admit to having less than an hour’s ‘me time’ each day.

Traditional gifts such as greetings cards, flowers and chocolates are set to top the list of this year’s most popular Mother’s Day presents.

However, some Milton Keynes mums are hoping their children say ‘thank you’ in other ways, with three in ten wanting to be treated to some pamper products and nearly a quarter hoping for a bottle of wine.

As well as receiving gifts, local mums want to spend quality time with their families this Mother’s Day - be it going out for a family lunch or enjoying each other’s company at home.

The research also found that nearly one in four Milton Keynes mums would prefer to spend the day doing something for themselves, and favourite ‘me time’ activities include reading a book in peace, 'bingeing' on Netflix, and catching up with friends over a coffee.

Jamie Turner, Centre Manager at The Kingston Centre, said: "Mother’s Day is one of the busiest times of year for us, with shoppers keen to show their mums some much-deserved appreciation. Our research shows just how important this is as lots of mums admit to having less than an hour for themselves each day."

"Traditional Mother’s Day gifts will always be popular, but this year we’ve also seen more people choosing a family meal out at one of our restaurants, and ‘me time’ treats such as pamper products from Boots."
