Milton Keynes reaches milestone 35,000th vaccination at Saxon Court Mass Vaccination Centre

Yesterday (26/5), a milestone was reached as the 35,000th vaccination was administered at our local mass vaccination centre.

Saxon Court, the former home of Milton Keynes Council, was transformed into a large-scale vaccination centre in February 2021.

The NHS has since been working with Milton Keynes Council to protect local people from the virus, and so far over 35,000 jabs have been administered on the site.

Milton Keynes Council is pleased with its progress so far. A spokesperson for the local authority said: "Celebrating brilliant partnership working between MK Council and the NHS as the 35,000th COVID-19 vaccination is given at Saxon Court vaccination centre in MK, which we helped to set up.

"Please come forward to be vaccinated when it’s your turn."

Eligible residents have been arranging to have their vaccine at Saxon Court through the online booking system, and last week people were allowed to attend drop-in sessions to make use of extra AstraZeneca supply.

The vaccination rollout was extended yesterday (26/5), meaning that people over the age of 30 can now reserve an appointment.

The Government's booking site will show the next available appointment, whether it be at Saxon Court or one of the many GP and pharmacy-led clinics across Milton Keynes.

If residents cannot spot a local vaccine appointment, then they are being advised to check back regularly as appointments are being added every day.

Those aged 50 and over, and the clinically vulnerable, are having their second doses brought forward because of the Indian variant, on advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

When looking at the total number of vaccines administered across Milton Keynes, 142,720 local people have had their first dose of the vaccine and 79,607 people are now fully vaccinated.
