Milton Keynes pub to sign off year of fundraising with Big Finale Weekend

Newport Pagnell pub The Dolphin is celebrating a super successful year of fundraising, which has seen it raise more than £9,000 for 14 different charities.

Additionally, it has launched a series of innovative community support initiatives, and strengthened partnerships across the town's hospitality sector.

At the start of the year, The Dolphin decided on an unusual objective – to support fellow watering holes, which resulted in The Dolphin Charity Pub Crawl.

The monthly event – held across seven neighbouring pubs in the town – has become a huge success, and charities have reaped the rewards.
So far, YMCA MK, MK Act, Action Medical Research, The Mead Centre, 5 On It Foundation, Willen Hospice, MacIntyre, Ride High, Newport Pagnell Christmas Lights, MK Autism, ALS Pals, Walking With The Wounded, and Samuel’s Charity have all benefitted.

Each month, 100s of residents have taken part—bringing vital awareness, enthusiasm and funding to organisations that support families, young people, veterans, people with disabilities and vulnerable individuals across Milton Keynes.

The venue has also offered more than 250 free hot meals to residents in need, and established itself as a go-to live music venue, bucking the trend and supporting artists in the locality.

There was another reason to smile when, in May, the pub attracted national recognition when The Great British Pub Crawl shone a light on The Dolphin Charity Pub Crawl to its audience of millions.

The Dolphin is now preparing for its Big Finale Weekend – on December 20 & 21 – with the aim of pushing this year's fundraising total through the £10,000 mark.

Live music, festive celebrations, community activities and special collaborations will all feature, and you are invited.

“We began 2025 with a simple idea—support our community and help our fellow pubs thrive. What happened next was beyond anything we imagined,” said manager Megan Sim, “Newport Pagnell has shown what can be achieved when people come together, and we’re incredibly proud of the difference we’ve made this year. Hitting £10,000 will be the perfect way to celebrate the town that made it possible.”
