A local nursery is celebrating receiving an outstanding report from Oftsed.

The staff, children and parents at Acorn’s day nursery in Stony Stratford are celebrating after receiving Outstanding in the nursery’s first inspection.

The report commented that “excellent first-hand experiences help children to learn about their local community” and also that children make “particularly impressive progress” in their communication and language skills.

The links with the Elizabeth House retirement apartments were also noted, and Kate Ayres, the nursery manager, said “we’re delighted that the Ofsted inspector recognised how embedded we are in the local community, which is down to the excellent work of the team here.”

The inspection came hot on the heels of a Good inspection result at Acorn’s nursery at Cold Harbour, in West Bletchley, and just as two more nurseries, Rowans and Hedgerows, have been added to the group, having been transferred from Milton Keynes Council.

The nurseries are situated within the family centres at Fullers Slade and Netherfield, and CEO Zoe Raven said “we’re delighted to be given the opportunity to add two more nurseries to our group.

"We’re now busy recruiting new team members to meet the demand, and look forward to supporting the local communities with high quality and affordable childcare.”
